荃園是由第三屆經濟系友賈培源博士為紀念其夫人嚴雋荃女士捐資興建的女生宿舍中庭花園，由賈培源女兒賈愷蓀親自設計。荃園面積約一千平方公尺，有流水噴泉、花崗石道、燈飾、石桌石椅、碎石坡地等，也在原有植栽外增植草皮及櫻花。

第三屆經濟系友賈培源博士為紀念其夫人嚴雋荃女士（同為第三屆政治系校友）捐資興建女生宿舍中庭花園，命名「荃園」，奉獻典禮於校慶當天11月2日上午10:10在女生宿舍廣場舉行。 荃園面積約一千平方公尺， 由賈培源女兒賈愷蓀親自設計，別具意義。花園有流水噴泉、花崗石道、燈飾、石桌石椅、碎石坡地等。在原有植栽外，增植草皮、櫻花，優雅麗緻，別具韻味。賈培源先生親自為賦作詩，字裡行間透露著對其夫人嚴雋荃女士的思念追憶與濃情蜜意。向晚秋涼，清風徐來，枝葉搖曳，藹藹月色倒映在潺潺涓流，與昏黃的燈光相輝成趣。
漫步在荃園，當可體會柔情似水的浪漫。荃園旁立一紀念石牌，提有一詩，意境悠遠：「依然綠樹立窗紗，手種櫻花醉彩霞；流水潺潺青草地，荃源不斷憶無涯。」娓娓道出賈培源伉儷情深意濃的感情 。此詩乃摘自本校董事長林振國與校長程海東為荃園親撰紀念辭「荃園記」，以大理石嵌於女宿十棟牆面，以茲記述。荃園特別之處，由賈培源女兒賈愷蓀設計，頗具意義與紀念性；步道花崗石材特地自大陸進口，沈穩內斂更添意境美感。賈愷蓀特地寫了一篇「荃園」記述心境。荃園即將落成，是東海五十一週年校慶的祝賀佳禮，更是堅真愛情的最佳見證。

荃園是賈培源先生懷念先妻，攜愷蓀、愷德、愷蒂三子女紀念母親嚴雋荃女士之花園。雋荃女士，本校第三屆政治系校友? 夫婿培源先生為同屆經濟系。 夫婦熱愛母校，曾捐建大樓。今再於女宿中庭建造此園，由女愷蓀親自設計。荃園面積約一千平方公尺，在原有植栽外，增植草皮、櫻花，流水噴池，花崗石道，燈飾等， 優雅麗緻。 花園七月動工，九月完竣，擇校慶日落成。有詩云：
依然綠樹立窗紗，手種櫻花醉彩霞；
流水潺潺青草地，荃源不斷憶無涯。

This garden was conceived as a contemplative gathering place for the women of Tunghai University, a place where they can begin to shape their goals and dreams just as my mother did many years ago.
My mother's life was a woven tapestry of amazing experiences and strong human relationships, and I wanted to express that in the design of the garden. Natural and man-made elements are woven together, overlapping to create an elegant courtyard setting. Pathways are stitched through the garden and, at times, transform into long tables where students can sit and dine or study; stone paving is interlocked together with planted areas. My hope is that the students will experience the garden as a metaphor for their education at Tunghai University-- a rich, interweaving of acquired knowledge, inspirational teaching, and life-long friendships.
Eight cherry trees (significant because the cherry tree was one of my mother's favorites,and its blossoming coincides with my parents' wedding anniversary) create an informal grove around the seating area of the garden.
A long water feature starts at the sloped west end of the garden and extends towards the dining hall. Water flows down a stone scroll with a poem dedicated to my mother.As it washes over the text, the water cleanses the sadness that is described in the poem;the water then passes under a path and extends down a long channel filled with river rocks.Eight thin jets of water will rise up and drop into the water channel, marking the main pathtowards the dining hall and announcing a constant renewal of the spirit of the garden.
At night the lighting will subtly illuminate the space and create an elegant glow throughout the garden. The canopy of trees will be up-lit and each of the water jets will be illuminated.Recessed lights in the paths shall guide students across the garden to their destinations.

我願以這花園的設計來闡述 母親的一生 好比
一幅壁氈 織滿了奇妙的經歷與豐厚的人脈關係
花園裡
自然與人工素材 彼此交織、重疊且環扣著 呈現出典雅的中庭格局
小徑縱橫交錯 石板與綠地互織
同學可往來其間 或坐或站 或飲食閱讀
我願同學能體驗出這“編織”的花園隱喻著 她們在東海所受的教育 那是
一種豐富的教育 以攝取得的知識、激發性的教學與終生的友誼相織而成
母親鍾愛櫻花樹 而櫻花亦年年在父母婚慶時節盛開 因此
花園裡
八棵櫻花樹形成了一片綠蔭 圍繞在桌椅旁
一道長長的水波自西面的斜坡向東沿流
清水 滑過了刻有紀念母親詩句的石版 也洗滌了詩中的哀傷
水 又透穿徑下 順流入那舖滿卵石的水渠
細泉八束 噴落其中
標示著那通往餐廳的主道 亦宣告著這花園不斷更新的精神
夜裡
燈 輕柔的照著 清雅的光影瀰漫全園
光 映著樹蓬 亮著細泉
路上的腳燈 將導引同學跨越花園 迎向她們人生的目標。
