Dormitory FAQ
Q: What are the differences between the dormitory rental prices between the Long-term Housing Plan and the Regular Housing Plan for the 2023 academic year?
A: Applicants of the Long-term Housing Plan must pay 12-months of rent, which is separately charged during the first semester, second semester, winter break, and summer break. They may also choose to continue living in their rented dormitory and thus must continue paying rent during summer and winter break despite not living in the dormitory.
Q: I have completed the accommodation application for the 2023 academic year. How can I change my dormitory preference?
A:
(1) For male freshmen: Please send an e-mail to cast0630@thu.edu.tw (0630 are numbers) before April 19 (Wednesday) 16:00.
(2) For female freshmen: Please send an e-mail to gen13@thu.edu.tw (13 are numbers) before April 19 (Wednesday) 16:00.
Q: How can I sign up for the freshmen preparation camp?
A: The Office of Academic Affairs will announce the sign-up process. Freshmen requiring accommodation only need to check-in the “I require accommodation” option to be included in the application list submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs and arranged for accommodation assignment.
Q: If I sign up for the Long-term Housing Plan before the freshmen preparation camp, can I just move into my dorm?
A: Depends on the construction progress and availability of the Long-term housing dorms. If the construction is completed, you may move in directly. If construction is not yet completed after the freshmen preparation camp, freshmen students with a Long-term Housing Plan can request to be placed in a nearby dormitory, where they can store their luggage, to ease the moving process. After the construction is completed, you may move into your assigned dormitory.
Q: What is the rental fee for the long-term housing plan for a shared four-person room?
A: The rental fee for each semester for the long-term housing plan for a share four-person room is the same as for that of the regular shared four-person room.
Q: Why is the rental fee for the regular housing plan and the long-term housing plan for a shared four-person room the same? Why are applicants required to pay rent to live in the shared room during winter and summer break?
A: Because the furniture of the shared rooms is only cleaned, not replaced. Additionally, in consideration of the financial status of each student, those applying for long-term housing plan are required to pay rent during summer and winter breaks, but may continue living in their original dormitory room (if they fulfill the requirements for dormitory students). However, those applying for the regular housing plan must move out of the dormitory during summer and breaks; their rooms may be provided for use by summer camps.
